The twelfth Imam, Hujjat Ibn Al-Hasan Al-Mahdi (God’s greetings be for him and his ascending) opened his eyes to the world at the start of the dawn of the day Thursday 15 of Sha‘ban month, of the year 255 H.L, correspondent with the July 28, 869 after Christ, in the City of Samarra, at the eleventh Imam‘s house.

My eyes have lost their vision and sight;
days and months my tear filled eyes I've wiped.
When will a reply be given to me?
When will your brilliant face I get to see?

oh twelfth petal of Zahra's flower;
on the seekers of truth, Allah's blessings do shower.

oh beloved, without you how may I survive?
your guidance I require throughout my life.
I am a vine, and you are my support
may I be sacrificed for you; you are my only fort!

oh twelfth petal of Zahra's flower;
on the seekers of truth, Allah's blessings do shower.

I am a butterfly, who circles around you;
my bond of love daily I renew.
Friday supplications have become cries of distress,
till when . . . oh beloved must my wails, I suppress?

You are a pillar of strength for me;
by God, your love is more sweeter than honey!
oh Aba Saleh, where are you now?
I have in hand my begging bowl!

oh twelfth petal of Zahra's flower;
on the seekers of truth, Allah's blessings do shower.

Bless me Master with just one glance;
your love in my heart has deep resonance.
Awaiting for your warmest reply;
I seal this poem with tears of my eye!
