Near the city of Hama, when one makes his way to the green knoll he finds a Jame Mosque known as Maqam Al-Imam Zayn-ul-Abidin (AS), or the Place of the Imam (AS), adorned with two beautiful domes. At the place one also finds a replica grave of Al-Imam Ali bin Al-Hussein Zayn-ul-Abidin (AS).
The Maqam consists of a grand courtyard and several rooms, which are used by the pilgrims. Reports said that after the martyrdom of Al-Imam Al-Hussein bin Ali ibn-e-Abi Talib (AS) with his 72 companions in the desert of Karbala, Mukhadderaat-e-Ismah-wa-Taharaha the chaste ladies of the holy family of Rasulullah (SAW) and Al-Imam Zayn-ul-Abidin (AS) were imprisoned and taken to Kufa and Syria along with the holy heads of the martyrs including that of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (AS).
