Beemar-e-Karbala – Hazrat Imam Ali ibnil Husayn (AS) By: Fariha Zaidi The fourth infallible Imam Zaynul Abedin (AS), the eldest son of Imam Husayn (AS) and Hazrat Shahr Bano daughter of Iran's last Sasanid emperor Yazdgerd III who successfully disseminated the universal message of the Husayni revolution in the world, was martyred on 25 Muharram in the year 95 AH, in Madinah. He was present in Karbala in 61 AH at the time of the shocking tragedy of the wholesale massacre of his father, his uncles, his brothers, his cousins and all the godly comrades of his father; and suffered a heartless captivity and imprisonment at the hands of the devilish Yazidi forces. When Imam Husayn (AS) had come for the last time to his camp to bid good-bye to his family, Imam Zaynul Abedin (AS) was lying semi-conscious in his sick-bed and hence he was exempted of holy war. Beemar-e-Karbala - the fourth Imam - lived for about 32 years after his father. It is worth noting that his eyes shed blood-tears for 32 years in mourning of Karbala tragedy. Imam (AS) was so earnest in worshipping Allah that he was called “Zaynul Abedin” (the adornment of worshippers), and “Syedus Sajideen” (the Master of those who prostrate). His son, the fifth Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir (AS), conducted the funeral prayer for this Holy Imam and he was laid to rest in the cemetery of Jannat-ul-Baqi in Medina. END |
