By: Binte Muhammad

It was 15th of the holy month of Ramadan in the year 3 AH that the first happiness of the House of Prophethood – Al-Imam Al-Hassan bin Ali bin Abi Talib Al-Mujtaba (p) – was born in the holy city of Medina.

Here are a few sayings of the Chief of Messengers (p)’s grandson and the Leader of the Youths of Paradise Al-Imam Al-Hassan (p):

<*> It is love which brings closer those who are remote by ancestry, and it is (the absence of) love which causes dissociation between those who are related by ancestry.

<*> Opportunity is something which is quick to vanish and late to return.

<*> I wonder about the person who contemplates about his nutrition but he does not consider (the food of) his intellect. Thus, he avoids of what hurts him in his stomach but he lets his mind to be filled with what destroys him.

<*> If you fail to obtain something of worldly benefit, take it as if the thought of it had never crossed your mind at all.

<*> The height of intelligence is associating with people amicably.

<*> Piety is the gateway to all repentance, and the principal of all wisdom, and the distinction of all deeds.

<*> Whoever relies on the excellence of Allah’s choices, doesn’t wish to be in other than the situation that Allah has chosen for him.

<*> Do not be hasty in punishing (someone’s) sin, and leave (room) between the two (fault and punishment) for apology.

<*> One who lacks intelligence has no decorum, and one who lacks determination has no magnanimity, and one who has no modesty has no religion

<*> The best wealth is contentment and the worst poverty is humility.

<*> The most discerning eye is the one that penetrates (views) into the blessings and the most auditory ear is the one heeds reminding and benefits from it. And the most pure of hearts is the one purified from doubt.

<*> O’ Son of Adam! abstain from the unlawful and you will be a worshipper, and be content with what Allah has predestined for you, you will be sufficient, be benevolent to those who take up proximity in your neighbourhood, you will be a Muslim.

<*> Tolerance of the noble is forgiving, if apologizing is difficult for the sinner.

<*> The most preferable adornment is graceful manners.

<*> Clemency is suppression of anger and self-restraint.

<*> Generosity is giving in prosperity and adversity.

<*> It is for you to ponder, for it is revitalization for the heart of the perspicacious and the key to the gateways of wisdom.

<*> Befriend people in the same manner you would like them to befriend you.

<*> Brotherhood is loyalty during adversity and during comfort.

<*> It is incumbent on whoever stands in the presence of the Lord of Throne (Allah), that his colour pales, and that his limbs tremble.

<*> One is ignorant of blessing as long as they are present, but when they pass, one becomes aware (of the value) of them.

Muntakheb Ul  Aqwaal
"Knowledge is better than wealth because it protects you while you have to guard wealth. it decreases if you keep on spending it but the more you make use of knowledge ,the more it increases . what you get through wealth disappears as soon as wealth disappears but what you achieve through knowledge will remain even after you."
