Funeral of Al-Hakim’s martyred cousin held in Karbala By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: A funeral procession for a prominent cleric Muhannad Al-Hakim was held on Thursday in the holy city of Karbala, home to the holy Shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hussain (p) and his brother Hazrat Abbas (p), attended by a large number of mourners belonging to all walks of life. Muhannad Al-Hakim, who is in his mid-30s and a member of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, was martyred Wednesday morning while leaving his home in the capital Baghdad, SCIRI official Latif Ar-Rubaie said Thursday. Al-Hakim, head of security at the Education Ministry, was a cousin of Sayyed Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim, who is currently Iraq’s interim leader and son of Grand Marje of Shiite World Grand Ayatullah Sayyed Mohsin Al-Hakim (late). Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim’s brother Ayatullah Baqer Al-Hakim, former chairman SCIRI, was martyred along with more than 100 others in a car bombing outside the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali Al-Morteza (p) in August this year.
