Ayat Sistani insists for elected interim govt in Iraq

CAIRO, Egypt: Iraq’s Ayatullah Ali As-Sistani will keep calling for urgent elections unless the United Nations says it is impossible, a member of US-appointed Iraqi Governing Council said.

“Ayatullah Sistani continues to insist on a provisional government chosen through elections,” Al-Jazeera television quoted Monday Mouwafaq Ar-Rabiyi as saying.
