Imam Reza (p) birth anniversary celebrated in Iraq By: Ismail Zzbeeh
HOLY KARBALA, Iraq: Birth Anniversary of Al-Imam Ali b. Mousa Ar-Reza (p), the eighth infallible Imam from the progeny of holy Prophet (p), was marked across Iraq with thousands of devotees thronged at the holy shrines. Grand festive programs and festivals were held at the holy shrines of Al-Imam Ali (p) in the holy city of Najaf, Al-Imam Abi Abdellah Al-Hussein (p) and Abou Al-Fazl Al-Abbas (p) in Holy Karbala, Al-Imam Al-Kazem (p) and Al-Imam At-Taqi Al-Jawad (p) in Kazemiyah, and Al-Imam Al-Hadi (p) and Al-Imam Al-Askary (p) in the Holy Samara.
Speakers and scholars spoke about the pious life, character and courtesy of Al-Imam Ar-Reza (p) and highlighted the importance of making a pilgrimage to his holy shrine that is housed in the holy city of Mash’had, Iran, in the light of sayings of Masumeen (p). Poets and eulogist recited poetry in praise of the eighth Imam (p) during these festive ceremonies, arranged by various organizations and bodies. Banners inscribed with greeting statements were hanged at the holy shrines, mosques, husseinyat and streets that were beautifully decorated with lights and colorful shiny buntings and ribbons. Sweetmeats and chocolates were distributed and believers greeted the holy Imams (p) marking the auspicious occasion. END |
