Iraq Governing Council fixes on Muharram sanctity observation By: Hamoud Kufi BAGHDAD, Iraq: The Iraqi Governing Council has decided to observe with consideration the sanctity of Muharram-ol-Haram, the month of martyrdom of Al-Imam Al-Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib (p). In a statement issued, the interim Governing Council said that marking the Muharram Hegira year 1425, stop of the ordinary programs in the radio and the television has been decided. It said such programs would be aired which match the holiness of this month as this month is commensurate with the memory of a painful incident in human history - the martyrdom of Chief of Prophets (p)’s grandson who is Chief of Youths of Heaven Al-Imam Hussein (p) and his rightful companions. Meanwhile, daylong majalis al-Azaa are held on daily bases throughout Iraq in which scholars highlight the tragedy of Karbala. END |
