Baghdad car bomb outside main US HQs claims over 2-dozen By: Hamoud Kufi BAGHDAD, Iraq: A suicide blast outside the main coalition headquarters in Baghdad rocked the Iraqi capital on Sunday claiming more than 2-dozen lives and wounding over 135, according to latest reports. American officials said most of the victims of the blast, which occurred at about 8 am near the “Assassin's Gate” to Saddam's former Republican Palace complex, now used by the US-led occupation authority for headquarters, are Iraqi civilians. The gate is used by hundreds of Iraqis employed by the Coalition Provisional Authority, the formal name of the US-led occupation authorities, as well as US military vehicles. END |
