Davos forum: Washington to rally support for Iraq By: Nabil Raza DAVOS, Switzerland: At the second day of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), founded in 1971 by Klaus Schwab, top US officials started pressing their drive for global aid in rebuilding Iraq and pursuing their war on terrorism. During five days of meeting in the snowy Swiss resort of Davos, the forum attracts some 2,000 high-ranking representatives from the world of politics and economics including more than 30 leaders of government and state. US Attorney General John Ashcroft appealed for stepped-up international cooperation to combat corruption saying it “undermines the trust on which democracy depends”. END |
