Holy Najaf rebuilding project begins; $50mln allocated for Samara By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: London-based Asharq Alawsat newspaper reported in its Monday editions that urgent project of reconstruction of the holy city of Najaf and Al-Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (p) shrine compound started on Monday after they met destruction during clashes between US forces and Moqtada As-Sadr’s Mehdi militia. The 50-million-dollar project will bring new schools, streets, clinics and facilities besides expansion in the sanctuary for reception of bigger number of visitors. Prime Minister’s advisor for construction affairs Bayan Jabr told Arabic language Asharq Alawsat that the 50 million dollars distribution took place as follows: five million dollars to the Ministry of Communication, five million dollars to the Ministry of Higher Education, 15 million dollars to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, five million dollars to the Ministry of Electricity, five million dollars to the Ministry of Education and 15 million dollars to the Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, a sum of 50 million dollars has been allocated for the reconstruction of Holy Samara which houses the holy shrines of Al-Imam Ali An-Naqi Al-Hadi (p) and Al-Imam Al-Hasan Al-Askari (p).
