Reopening of Al-Haydari Shrine planned By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: Holy Shrine of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (p) is scheduled to be reopened for visitors next week after five months of control of followers of Moqtada As-Sadr over it. The Shia Endowment (Waqf) Authority Department said: “Works of cleaning and maintenance are still continuing inside the holy shrine in order to remove dirt and blood spread in all entrances leading to the shrine and the surrounding trade shops. Large amounts of remains and ruins and several unexploded bombs were removed from the place.” It added that experts from holy city of Karbala and Hillah for disposing-off and deletion of explosives are still busy in their job. On of the trustees (Motawalli) for the affairs of holy Haydari Shrine said the Old City which surrounds the holy compound must be free of weapons so that we could be able for reopening of the shrine. Therefore, the Iraqi police carry out inspection operations now searching for weapons in the regions surrounding the courtyard. Marjaiyah Ad-Diniyah (Top Religious Authority) supervises all holy shrines in the holy cities of Najaf, Kazemiyah, Karbala and Samra. END |
