HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Mosaabo Harq Al-Khayam, or the sufferings of torching Husseini tents, some 1,400 years ago after the unjust slaughter of Al-Imam Al-Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib (p) along with his 72 faithful comrades was commemorated in Holy Karbala on this Ashura afternoon which fell on February 19.

The commemoration took place in Al-Mokhayyam Al-Husseini area – the site where Husseini camps were set up -. This year, symbolic tents were erected on the Al-Mokhayyam street, Ummayad soldiers came forward and they were carrying fire to torch the camps of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p). as they set the camps ablaze, followers of Al-Imam Al-Hussein and Sayyedah Zaynab (p) cried and wailed, and they were beating their faces to signify their grief over the great sufferings of the holy daughters of holy Prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah (p).

History tells that Omar bin Sa’ad (c) ordered to burn down the tents wherein there were women and children of Hussein (p). and when the fire flames in the tents of Aal An-Nabi, the daughters of Prophet (p) ran from one tent to the other while cries of orphans were touching sky. That was the worst oppression carried out against the progeny of Holy Prophet (p), and these scenes never escaped from the mind of Al-Imam Zayn Al-Abidin (p) - who was severely ill at that time and was on his bed in one of the tents, it was his aunt Sayyedah Zaynab (p) who saved imamate by carrying him out on her shoulders from the burning tent. Imam says “By God … I remember my aunts and sisters running on the Day of Taff from one tent to the other … and the proclaimer of the people (yazidi army) proclaiming: ‘burn down houses of oppressors’ (in reference to the houses of progeny of holy Prophet (p)”.

After their tents were burnt down, the Yazidi army looted even their jewels. Even the round earrings of four-year-old little Sakinah Bint Al-Hussein (p) who was used to sleep on the holy chest of her father Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) as she was very dear to him were snatched from her ears leaving her ears to bleed. They were hitting the daughters of Prophet (p) with spear heads.

Despite all these sufferings, Sayyedah Zaynab (p), daughter of Al-Imam Ali (p), prostrated her head extending thanks to Allah.

Commemoration of Abi Al-Ahrar Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) fills the world with brightness and pride like the most beautiful commemoration by which humanity gets honour in every era.

Ashura observed with blood streams to mark Karbala tragedy HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: 10th Muharram-ol Haram and the darkest day of universal history known as Ashura, marking the gruesome tragedy of Karbala in which the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (p), Hussein bin Ali (p), along with his 72 faithful near and dear ones was slaughtered unjustly 1,400 years ago, was commemorated in various parts of the globe on Saturday February 19 with religious reverence and solemnity.
