Int’l Scholars body slates holy cities attacks, warns of conspiracy By: Nabil Raza DUBLIN, Ireland: The International Federation of Muslim Scholars, which comprises scholars from both the main Islamic Schools of Thought namely Sunni and Shi'a, condemned the two explosions that shook the holy cities of Najaf and Kerbala on 19 December last year. Warning against a “dangerous conspiracy,” the Federation called upon the scholars in Iraq, both Sunni and Shi'a, to meet at the earliest possible moment to discuss ways and means of countering this conspiracy. The statement issued by the Federation says that Iraq is today confronted with a dangerous conspiracy that seeks to tear asunder its social fabric, by employing the tactic of driving a sectarian wedge between the two Schools of Thought in the country, and magnifying the points of differences. The International Federation of Muslim Scholars concluded its statement by again warning that there are a number of Fifth Columnists in Iraq, who want only evil to come to this country, and to Islam and Muslims. These are the people responsible for the explosions, which, on the face of it, appear to be acts of resistance, but in reality they are an extension of the aggression. END |
