Ayat Sistani puts forward new electoral system

HOLY NAJAF, Iraq: Holy Najaf Marjay Al-A`ala Ayatullah Sayyid Ali
As-Sistani has suggested amendments to the election law aimed at
providing more chances for the participation of all stratums and
religious layers of society.
Talking to Sunni and Shia leaders in holy Najaf – home to the holy
shrine of Al-Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (A.S.), Ayatullah As-Sistani said
he would abandon the previous January 30 electoral system.
