Special army to defend Najaf, Karbala shrines

HOLY NAJAF/KARBALA, Iraq: A special army to protect the
holy shrines in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala has
been formed.
Najaf and Karbala are home to the holy mausoleums of Imam
Ali (A.S.), Imam Hussein (A.S.) and Al-Abbas (A.S.).
Mowafeq As-Saedi, a top official of Iraqi academy for
basic training, said the army will work under the
overseeing of Ayatullah Sayyed Hussein As-Sadr who resides
in the holy city of Kazemiyah.
He said the army got special training in different
weapons, discovering suicide bombing vehicle and forming
investigation points.
