Over 67 martyred, hurt in blast at Wadi-os-Salam near Haideri shrine

HOLY NAJAF, Iraq: Scores of pilgrims have been
martyred and injured in a car bomb detonated near the holy shrine of
Al-Imam Ali (p) at the entrance of Wadi-os Salam cemetery on Bab-ot
Tussi direction in the holy city of Najaf on Thursday.
A number of shops at Bab-ot Tussi were damaged in the bombing at Zohr
(noon) time.
 
Police have gone on alert and have imposed a citywide curfew. The
police and army sealed off the center of Najaf and ordered people to
leave the area for fear other bombs may be hidden there.
According to police Chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Miadal the bombing, in which
at least 50 people were wounded, occurred about 200 meters from the
Al-Imam Ali (p) shrine.
