Iraqis protest bloodshed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq: Thousands of Iraqis demonstrated in Baghdad on Friday after two days of bloodshed that claimed at least 200 lives.
In the demonstration in Baghdad's Sadr City slum, protesters chanting slogans against US Ambassador Zalmay Khalizad and hardliners who have been complaining of widespread fraud in the Dec. 15 elections.

The demonstration was organized after Friday prayers by Iraq's main political party, the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution or SCIRI.

On Wednesday, 53 people died in attacks, including 32 left martyred by a suicide bomber at a majlis al-aza.

At Friday prayers at the Umm al-Qura mosque, the headquarters of the Sunni Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheik Ali Khodir al-Zand blamed foreign insurgents for Thursday's bloodshed in Karbala and said security must improve.
