Car bomb outside Kufa Mosque martyrs over 60

HOLY KUFA, Iraq: At least 60 people were
martyred and over 150 injured in the holy city of Kufa on
Tuesday when a suicide bomber pulled his minivan into a busy
market, lured laborers onboard with the promise of jobs and
then blew himself up.
The explosion occurred outside holy Kufa Mosque, one of the
four grand religiously distinguished mosques: Al-Haraam Mosque
(Holy Makkah), Prophet (p) Mosque (Holy Medina), Al-Aqsa
Mosque (Palestine) and Kufa Mosque (Iraq).
The bomb went off at 7:30 a.m. across the street from the
gold-domed Kufa mosque, police Capt. Nafie Mohammed said.
Kufa, a twin city of Holy Najaf, is about 100 miles south of
Baghdad.
The Mosque marks the place where Imam Ali, cousin, first
infallible descendant and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad
(p), was mortally wounded at the hands of Ibne Moljem while he
was offering his dawn prayer on Ramadan 19.
 
Offering prayer in this mosque is equal to a hajj as well as
equal to one-thousands prayers offered at any other place.
Imam Jafar As-Sadeq (p) said: there is no Prophet or messenger
who had not offered prayer therein.
