UN says Iraq violence displaces 150,000
By: Ismail Zabeeh
BAGHDAD, Iraq: A United Nations agency
reported Tuesday that the number of displaced people in Iraq
has swelled by 150,000 since the bombing of Samarra holy
shrine in February.
The UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, UNAMI, put the number of
displaced since late February higher than the 130,386 estimate
of registered internal refugees given by the Ministry of
Displacement and Migration on Monday.
"It is estimated that 1.3 million individuals are
displaced inside Iraq, nearly 5 percent of the country's total
population," said a UNAMI statement.
"While many were displaced as long ago as the early 1980s, the last
four months of increasing violence and relentless sectarian tensions
have resulted in the displacement of a further 150,000 individuals."
The figure of 150,000 displaced does not include those who have sought
refuge with relatives or fled abroad.

"Knowledge is
better than wealth because it protects you while you have to
guard wealth. it decreases if you keep on spending it but the
more you make use of knowledge ,the more it increases . what you
get through wealth disappears as soon as wealth disappears but
what you achieve through knowledge will remain even after you."MORE
