HOLY CITY OF KERBALA, Iraq: Marking the martyrdom anniversary of Al-Imam Ja’fer As-Sadiq (peace be upon him) and condemning the heinous crime of demolishing his holy grave and graves of other A’immah in Al-Baqi and Samarra, massive mourning gatherings (majalis wa mawakeb al-azaiyah) were held in the holy city of Kerbala besides other cities on Shawal 25.

Annual Kerbala mourning procession to mark the occasion, organized by union of husseiniyah organizations, was attended by tens of thousands of mourners. Replica coffin of the imam (peace be upon him) was also taken out in the procession.

The procession began from the office of Ayatullah Al-Modarresi and culminated at the holy shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hussein and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them).

At the end of the gathering, dinner was served on the “Table of Al-Imam As-Sadiq (peace be upon him)”.
