Iraq's PM visits ruins of shrine

BAGHDAD, Iraq: Iraqi prime minister Nuri Al-Maliki traveled to holy Samarra with US military officials to visit the ruins of the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hadi (AS) and Imam Al-Askari (AS).

After the attack, besides ordering a curfew on vehicle traffic and large gatherings in the capital, Al-Maliki also asked for US troop reinforcements in Samarra.

A senior US military official said 15 policemen at the shrine have been detained for questioning.

The prime minister also said an unspecified number of other suspects have been arrested and are being interrogated.

HOLY CITY OF SAMARRA, Iraq: Terrorists on Wednesday bombed the holy Askariya shrine in Samarra bringing down the two minarets, in a repeat of a Feb 22, 2006 bombing that shattered its Golden Dome.
