tomb of great companion of Prophet Muhammad b. Abdullah (SW), and

Ziyad An-Nakha’ee (RA), has been completed.

The reconstruction began in April 2007.

Kumayl bin Ziyad an-Nakha'ee is best know for the du'a or
supplication in the anthologies that bears his name, du'a al-Kumayl.
Kumayl came from Yemen. His family inhabited Kufa during Imam Ali (AS)'s
Caliphate.
He fought alongside Sa'id ibn Jubayr at the battle of Jamājim in 82 AH
(699-701 CE) against the provincial governor of the Iraqi region,
Hajjaj ibn Yusuf al-Thaqafi. Kumayl commanded the ‘Battalion of Qur’an
Reciters’.

Kumayl was put to death by Hajjaj, a notorious oppressor, because
of his staunch beliefs. It is said that Hajjaj had asked Kumayl to
disown Al-Imam Ali (AS) before his execution.
The shrine of Kumayl is on a hill at Wadi os-Salaam in Najaf.
