By: Ismail Zabeeh

HOLY SAMARRA, Iraq: First phase of reconstruction work of the destructed holy shrine of Al-Imam Ali An-Naqi Al-Hadi (AS) and Al-Imam Al-Hasan Al-Askari (AS) in the northern Iraqi holy city of Samarra has been completed.

Assam Ghidan, director of the task and an engineer affiliated with UNESCO, told this.

He further said the first stage included removing debris from ‘Sardab Al-Gheybah’ (the place wherefrom Imam Al-Mehdi (AS) was disappeared).

Ghidan said taking out debris from the holy shrine was considered the most difficult stage of the rebuilding procedure. The debris contained precious and valuable items from the shrine.

Terrorists destructed the holy Al-Askariyain shrine twice in 2006 and 2007 leveling its holy golden dome and two minarets.

According to Ghidan the second phase includes constructing new structure.

UNESCO had sent a delegation of engineers to Turkish city Istanbul to know about particular points of construction of a number of its historical buildings, tombs and mosques to strengthen professional face of their task in Samarra.

A Bangladeshi artist engaged in the task Shahidollah Alati said: “Work in reconstruction of the holy shrine is a great honour.”
