By: Ismail Zabeeh

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: The day of burial of Chief of Martyrs Al-Imam Al-Hussein bin Ali (AS) and his 72 faithful companions was commemorated in Karbala on Moharram 13, Tuesday.

The commemoration is known as “Azaao Bani Assad”.

Clan of Bani Assad on insistence of their women stood for burial of Karbala martyrs. Despite being chained by Yazidi forces, Al-Imam Zein Al-Abidin (AS) by the will of Allah came to bury his respected father Sibtor Rasol Hussein bin Ali (AS) because an infallible (ma’soum) could not be buried except by an infallible.

Marking the occasion, big mourning processions and majalis were held in the holy city of Karbala.

A procession attended by black dressed men, women and children was taken out. It went to Baab-i-Qiblah Al-Imam Al-Hussein (AS), and then culminated at the holy shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (AS) and his brother Al-Abbas bin Ali (AS) amid cries and wails of men and women on the mazlumiah of Ahli Beit (AS).

Meanwhile, majalis were also held.
