HOLY KADHIMIYAH, Iraq: Marking the martyrdom anniversary of Al-Imam
Mousa bin Jafar Al-Kadhim (AS), seventh infallible descendant of
Prophet Muhammad (SW), on Rajab 25, July 29, Tuesday, the main
mourning gathering in the world was held at Kadhimiyah at the holy
shrine of the Imam (AS) with an estimated more than 6 million people
attended.

The ceremony under a mass of green and black flags passed
peacefully, a day after three female suicide bombers left over 35
martyred among crowds of pilgrims.

Authorities lifted a vehicle curfew in the capital, imposed for the
commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary.
"I congratulate the millions of people and the mourning processions
which took place with the utmost organization, showing great
coordination with the armed forces," said a statement from Prime
Minister Nuri al-Maliki's office.

Black-clad mourners from around Iraq and other countries packed
Baghdad's streets as they made their way to the Kadhamiyah shrine in
the city's north.
Mourners usually travel to such events on foot.
Tents were set up along the way to hand out food, tea, milk and water.
Security forces had put female guards around Kadhamiyah to search
women.
