Security in Najaf braced as millions flocking to mourn Prophet (S)

HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: Security across the country and
particularly in the holy city of Najaf has been beefed up to mark the
martyrdom anniversary of A-Rasul Al-Adham Prophet Muhammad Al-Mostafa
(peace be on him and his holy progeny) on Friday, Safar 28, March 7.
It has been a practice that millions of mourners gather at the holy
mausoleum of Amir-ul Mo’minin Al-Imam Ali b. Abi Taleb (peace be on
him), cousin, son-in-law and the first infallible successor of the
Prophet (peace be on him and his holy progeny), to commemorate the
heartrending occasion.
Big camps have been set up throughout the route to Najaf to ease
mourners, coming to this holy city, some on foot while some in
vehicles. Food is being cooked in giant pots on the steeets of Najaf
for guests of Al-Imam Ali (peace be on him).
