Mourning programs marking Imam Ali (a) martyrdom kick off across globe By: Raza Ali WASHINGTON: Mourning programs marking the martyrdom anniversary of Amir-ul-Momineen Nasir-e-Rasool, or helper of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be on him & his pure seed), Hazrat Ali Ibn-e-Abi Talib (peace be on him) began across the globe from the eve of Ramazan 19. Programs including majalis-e-aza, or mourning gatherings, mourning processions, taking out of replica of Imam Ali (peace be on him)’s coffin and special a’maal are organized at mosques, hussainiyaat, imambargahs, maatam and Islamic centers attended by multitudes of mourners. Religious scholars and speakers, in their addresses and speeches, highlight the pious character of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be on him) bringing to light his services and sacrifices rendered for the cause of Islam as well as his precious teachings.
