International conference on Ahlul Bayt (p) opens in Tehran By: Sheikh Muhammad Khurasani TEHRAN, Iran: The third international conference on Ahlul Bayt (peace be on them), or the infallible household of the Chief of Prophets Prophet Muhammad (peace of Allah be on him & his pure progeny), opened in Tehran on Thursday aimed at reviewing the problems being faced by the Islamic world. Nearly 500 intellectuals from 84 countries attended the conference which agenda included reports to be presented by Muslim scholars and intellectuals and future programs of the world Ahlul Bayt (peace be on them) Assembly. Addressing the conference, President Mohammad Khatami while referring to the fact that peace cannot be imposed said that it is materialized in case justice is administered. He said Islam presented by the Ahlul Bayt (peace be on them) is the harbinger of peace, wisdom, independence, progress, freedom, justice, dialogue and kindness. “We are a harbinger of religious democracy and advocate broad-based national progress in scientific, economic and technological fields,’ Khatami said disapproving the idea of conflict among civilizations. “We support the oppressed and those subjected to pain and suffering around the world especially in the world of Islam.” END Countrywide meet of Friday Prayer leaders held in Tehran
