Arba’ein commemoration across the globe with veneration

TORONTO, Canada: Arba’ein-e-Husseini, or the fortieth day after the martyrdom of holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be on him & his pure progeny)’s grandson, Hazrat Imam Hussein (peace be on him) some 1,400 years ago for the survival and safety of Islam, is being observed across the world on Saturday and Sunday with due reverence and veneration.

Arba’ein which falls on 20th day of second month of Islamic calendar, Safar-ul-Mozaffar, is marked with holding grand mourning sittings and taking out huge mourning processions to pay rich homage to the Martyrs of Karbala who saved the tree of Islam by watering it with their holy blood in the hot desert of Karbala.

In some parts of the world, Arba’ein is being commemorated on Saturday April 10 while in some other on Sunday April 11.

Majalis-e-aza and processions will be held in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Canada, United States, Britain, France, Germany, Chile, Belgium, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Netherlands, Denmark, South Korea, North Korea, South Africa, Russia, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, China, Japan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Tanzania, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and many other countries.

Several million Husseini Mourners from across the globe have descended at the holy city of Karbala that houses the holy shrines of Hazrat Imam Hussein (peace be on him) and Hazrat Abbas Alamdar (peace be on him) this year to commemorate the occasion as according to a saying of Hazrat Imam Hassan Al-Askari (peace be on him) ziyarat of Arba’ein is one of five signs of a faithful.

According to reports, Haram (children and women folk) of Hazrat Imam Hussein (peace be on him) coming back to Medina from Syria after their release from prisons passed through the grave of Hazrat Imam Hussein (peace be on him) on the same day of Arba’ein. When this holy caravan led by Hazrat Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (peace be on him) reached there, it found a man already present there. He was Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (may Allah be please with him), companion of holy Prophet (peace be on him & his pure progeny), who was the first visitor of Imam Hussein (peace be on him). Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (peace be on him) met with Jabir (may Allah be please with him) while weeping bitterly and saying ‘Ya Jabir! Ha huna qotela Abi Abdillah….’ (O Jabir! Abi Abdillah has been murdered…).
