Saudi Arabia: Mourning sittings, processions mark Arba’een By: Abdulali AL-QATEEF, Saudi Arabia: Arba’een al-Husseini, like other countries, was also observed in eastern parts of Saudi Arabia with due fervor and solemnity.
The observation began on Safar 17th by holding grand majalies al-azaiyah, or the mourning sittings, in which speakers highlighted significance of Arba’een al-Husseini in the light of Quran and Sunnah. Arba’een commemoration touches its climax on Safar 20 night April 10, the night between Friday and Saturday, when a mourning procession was taken out from al-Jamimah Mosque in al-Awamiyah region at 11:30 PM and ended late night. Renowned dirge-chanter Jaffar Sehwan from Bahrain attended the procession. More processions were also brought out in the same night in the area.
The processions severely condemned American and Israeli atrocities and aggression against Iraq, Palestine and other Islamic nations. On Safar 20, Arba’een day, a play was staged in Al-Qateef city in a beautiful manner by delivering the speeches of al-Imam Ali bin al-Hussein (p) and as-Sayyidah Zaineb (p) in the court of Yazid (c). Following the play, al-Allamah ash-Sheikh Hassan an-Namar addressed. He urged the need of sticking to the path of Ahlul Bayt (p).
In ash-Shaweykah, al-Qateef city, a grand mourning procession was taken out at 4:30 PM on Saturday, Safar 20, attended by flocks of mourners. The procession terminated at Maghrib prayers time. Samahah as-Sayyid Muhammad as-Sadah led prayers after which a majles program began with recitation of Quranic verses by Hussein al-Behar. Musa as-Saffar, al-Imam al-Jawwad (p) group, al-Imam al-Hassan (p) group and poet Yasser Aal-e-Gharib addressed and presented dirges. Dinner was served on the “table of al-Imam al-Hussain (p)”.
