Imam Hussein (p) cultural symposium held in Karbala By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Marking the Husseini Mourning Days, Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) University organized an intellectual cultural conference in the holy city of Karbala. Chairman International Shirazi Foundation in Washington Ayatullah Mortza Ash-Shirazi, head of the University Dr Mohsin Baqer Al-Qazvini, officials from Karbala University Dr Aboud Al-Hilli, Dr Muhammad Al-Harabi, Dr Abbas and Ustaz Engineer Sattar Jabber Yassin as well as students, poets, intellectuals and a number of religious scholars attended.
The symposium opened with the recitation of Quranic verses followed by a speech by Dr Mohsin Baqer Al-Qazvini revolving around the meaning of a saying of holy Prophet Muhammad (s.w.) about the Master of Martyrs Al-Imam Al-Hussein bin Ali (a.s.) “Husseinnun minni wa ana minal Hussein” (Hussein is from me and me from Hussein). Addressing the gathering, Dr Abbas threw light on the tragedy of Karbala and described martyrdom of the Chief of Youths of Paradise Al-Imam Al-Hussein (a.s.) in detail. Dr Al-Harabi, Dr Al-Hilli, Jolan Abdulhamzah and Ustaz Sattar offered poetic homage to Sibtur Rasol (s.w.). Ayatullah Mortza Ash-Shirazi also addressed.
