Manama witnesses Arbaeen programs for all religion people By: Ali Al-Qadumi MANAMA, Bahrain: Marking Arbaeen-e-Husseini, or the fortieth day after the martyrdom of grandson of Prophet Muhammad (p) Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p), tents are being set up in the processions area in Manama suq to create a temporary center. The center opens on April 9, night between Friday and Saturday, to help non-Muslims experience and understand Islam. The Ashura Cultural Center, which will also be open on April 17, to mark the demise anniversary of Prophet (p), is part of the Islamic Enlightenment Society's activities for major religious events. On these nights, the center would organize lectures in English at 8.30pm to be followed by question and answer sessions. Publications in several languages will also be available and distributed at the center. A drawing corner has been also set up by the Hussein Drawing Society for Islamic Arts, for people who want to draw or paint. People of all religions are welcome to the center that will be divided into separate sections for men and women. The director of the center said: “Very little attention has been given in the past to English-speaking residents interested in taking part or benefiting from these sermons… This is an excellent opportunity to build cultural understanding and dialogue in a friendly atmosphere.” Two follow-up lectures will be held on Saturday at 8.30pm at Shahrazad Hall, off Budaiya Highway, on the Arbaeen, while another lecture will be held at Beit Al Quran, off the Diplomatic Area at 7.30pm on April 18 to mark the Prophet (p)'s demise anniversary.
