Lebanon: Hezbollah slams US over Iraq holy places By: Karim Tellawi BEIRUT, Lebanon: Lebanese Hezbollah group said US forces were desecrating holy shrines in Iraq, and called on Muslims to defend the sanctities in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala with their lives. Addressing a rally in a southern Beirut suburb, Lebanon, late Tuesday, leader of the Hezbollah Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah termed American attacks in Najaf and Karbala as aggressions against all Muslims and all Shiites worldwide. The golden dome of the Imam Ali (p) shrine in Najaf was slightly damaged during fighting last weekend. The US military says Moqtada as-Sadr’s militiamen have used holy places in the two cities as firing positions and storerooms for weapons. Nasrallah urged supporters to demonstrate on Friday while wearing martyrdom shrouds to show their readiness to die. END Lebanon scholars slam US-Zionist atrocities against Iraqis, Pals
