Al-Hakim calls on new govt to get rid of Bathists
By: Ismail Zabeeh
BAGHDAD, Iraq: As Iraq has formed its first
democratically elected government in more than 50 years
ending three months of political deadlock, Chairman
Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq and head of
United Iraqi Alliance Sayyed Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim has
demanded from the new government to root out Saddamis from
all sites and ministries.
Al-Hakim also urged all Iraqis to support the new elected
government calling the later to work for protection of
unity of Iraq and establish good relations with
neighbouring states.
Thursday, the 275-seat National Assembly approved, with
180 votes, the list of names put forward by Prime Minister
Ibrahim Al-Jafari.
The cabinet will consist of 32 ministers and four deputy
prime ministers, an effort to accommodate almost all
Iraq's ethnic and sectarian groups. However, Al-Jafari
could not name permanent ministers to five ministries -
oil, defence, electricity, industry and human rights.
As well as having to tackle violence and rampant organised
crime, the new government, working with parliament, will
oversee the writing of a permanent constitution. The
document has to be drawn up by mid-August and then put to
a referendum before elections are held. If it does not
look like it is going to be drafted on time, legislators
can ask for a six-month extension before 1 August.
Iraq will hold fresh elections under the charter in
December.

get through wealth disappears as soon as wealth disappears but
what you achieve through knowledge will remain even after you."MORE
