Saudis, Bahrainis pay homage to Batla-e-Karbala (A)

By: Abdulali/ Ali Al-Qadumi

AL-QATEEF/ AL-MANAMA: Like other global parts, Zekra Istash’had, or the martyrdom anniversary of Sayedah Zayneb (p), daughter of Master of Believers Al-Imam Ali Al-Mortadha (p) was commemorated across Bahrain and oil-rich Mo’mineen-dominated eastern region of Saudi Arabia.

In this connection, majales and mawakeb Al-Azaiyah, or the mourning sittings and processions, were organized at mosques, hossainiyaat and matam that were richly attended by mourners from all walks of life.

By performing mourning rituals – majles, aza-ol latam (chest beating), elegies, shedding tears – mourners paid rich homage to Aqila-tol Hashmiyyiin Seddiqa As-Soghra Zayneb Al-Kobra (p) who was named as “Zayneb” by her grandfather holy Prophet Muhammad Al-Mostapha (p). Zayneb is made up of two words i.e. ‘Zayn’ (adornment) and ‘eb’ (father) which gives meaning that she is adornment of her father.

In Saudi Arabia’s Tarout city, Al-Ghadir Council arranged a Majles Al-Azaa at Al-Imam Zayn Al-Abedein (p) Mosque. Sheikh Abbas Al-Mahros addressed while Sayyed Ali Shabbar Al-Karbalayi recited elegies. Addressing the majles, Al-Mahros said the lion-hearted daughter of Ali (p), Zayneb Al-Kobra (p) is that fire which burns oppression and shakes the foundations of evil.

In Al-Awamiyah, a mourning procession was taken out under arrangements of Maukab Sayyed-osh Shohadaa (p) from near hossainiyah Al-Imam Al-Montadhar (p) on Rajab 15.

Bahrainis arranged big mourning gatherings at mosques, matam and hossainiyaat across the kingdom to mark the occasion.

Special dishes were prepared to facilitate the mourners. The programs began on the eve of Rajab 15 and ended on next night.
