MANAMA, Bahrain: Azaa Bany Assad was held on 13 Muharram night across Bahrain with holding of grand mourning sittings and processions to commemorate the burial of Martyrs of Karbala.

Renowned dirge-chanters recited dirges throughout the processions, while black-dressed husseini mourners led by religious scholars and clerics were beating their chests and heads in grief over the unjust slaughter of Sebt-or Rasul (p) in the scorching plain of Karbala.

Hordes of mourners slit open their heads with swords streaming blood to show their grief over the sufferings of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) and his companions.

Majales Al-Azaiyah were also held attended by throngs of devotees in which speakers depicted in detail the slaughter of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p).

There were tons of excellent models of the mausoleum of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) as well as tragedy of Karbala and artworks in the main procession area in Manama and other cities.

Special camps and tents were set up at roads decorated from inside with red crystal lights that were making the tents red to create the scene of At-Taff (Karbala) Tragedy. Shopping centers and general stores participated in the universal commemoration by shutting their gates and draping black cloths on their faces.

Soft drinks and meals were served by special camps from the table of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) to facilitate Husseini mourners.

The day ended with mourning sittings that commemorated layla-tol Ghorabaa highlighting the sufferings of Sayyedah Zaynab (p), daughter of Al-Imam Ali (p) and Sayyedah Fatemah (p) after the slaughter of her brother Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p).
