CALIFORNIA, United States: Commemorating the mourning month of Muharram in which Imam Hussain bin Ali bin Abi Talib (A), grandson of holy Prophet Muhammad Al-Mostafa (S), along with his 72 near and dear ones rendered matchless sacrifice for defense of Islam and Shariah and safety of high human values some 1,400 years ago, majalis al-aza are being held in the United States of America.

In Washington, Ar-Rasul Al-Adham (S) Foundation organized a 13-night majalis program at hussainiyah Fatemah Az-Zahraa (A). After Maghrebain prayers, the majlis started with recitation of Quranic verses followed by Ziarah Ashoura Al-Imam Al-Hussain (A). Hojjatol Islam Sheikh Makki Akhond addressed the majalis and highlighted philosophy of Imam Hussain (A)’s standing, and legality of holding majalis, matam, latam and azaa in grief of Imam Hussain (A). Later, meal of Abi Abdellah Al-Hussain (A) was served to the mourners.

On Ashoura, Ziarah Ashoura was recited with detail and Tatbeer (cutting head with large sharp sword to let blood to gush out in grief of Imam Hussain) was performed by a large number of mourners following in the footsteps of Molatana Sayedah Zaynab (A) who, when saw head of her brother Hussain (A) on the spear peak, hit her head with the wooden seat of camel in presence of Imam of her era Al-Imam Zayn ul Abideen (A), and she was Aalimah Gher Moallimah (Knowledgeable without being taught). Men, women, young, old, children and observers from American community participated in holding this Shaeerah.

In California, majalis in Arabic, English and Persian languages were held at Al_Imam As-Sadeq (A) Foundation in Los Angeles. Ayatullah Sayed Mortadha Al-Qazvini addressed.

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Moayyad addressed majalis Hussaini in Santiago followed by latam.
Majalis were also held at Astana-e-Zahraa (A).

These programs will remain in continuation till 8 Raby Al-Oula.
