By: Kassim Bharwani

TORONTO, CANADA: Hundreds of Muslims joined hands to protest the great tragedy of the bombing of the Haram Shareef (holy shrine) of al-Imamian al-Askariain (AS).

The protest took place outside the consulate of the United States on University Avenue. Members from various Mosques came together to express their outrage of the lack of security at the Holy Shrine and to show their support for the Iraqi people who are suffering at the hands of terrorists.

Speeches were made by representatives of various Mosques, including M. Bhimji from the Islamic Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat of Toronto and A. Hashemi from Al-Huda Islamic Centre, though members came from centres such as the Imam Mahdi Centre (Council of Islamic Guidance), Islamic Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat of Toronto, Al-Huda Islamic Centre, Imam Ali Islamic Centre, Hussainiyya Passmore, Bab ul Ilm Islamic Centre, Bagh e Zahra Islamic Centre, al-Imam al-Hussain Mosque, and many other mosques situated across the Greater Toronto Area.

Majales were also held throughout Canada as memories of destruction of Jannat al-Baqi came flooding back to some, and to send condolences to Imam al-Asr, may Allah hasten his reappearance.

Men, women and children braved the cold temperatures to make their voices heard, and brought flags and banners to further illustrate their feelings.
