Muslims, Christians join hands to ‘save’ Al-Qods

By: Sultan Ahmed

DOHA, Qatar: In a rare show of unity, Muslims and Christians in Held Jerusalem have joined hands and launched a joint front to save the city from Israel's sinister plans to erase all signs of Arab history heritage.

Dr (Sheikh) Tayseer Rajab Al Tamimi, a prominent religious leader from the city, said here.

Speaking at a global Inter-Faith Conference, he said Muslims and Christians in the region share a common history, culture and heritage, which are at stake.

Israel is trying to eliminate the Arab Christian and Islamic heritage in Jerusalem and the city is being subjected to ethnic cleansing, said Al Tamimi, who is Jerusalem-based Supreme Judge of Islamic Shariah Courts in Palestine.

"We are proud of Muslim-Christian relations," he said, adding that Muslims are not allowed to pray in Al Aqsa Mosque.

A tunnel is being dug beneath the shrine threatening its very existence, said Al Tamimi intervening during discussions at the religious convention.

The three-day convention held at the Marriott Hotel ended on May 9.
