Hezbollah resists Israel's building of museum on Muslim holy site

By: Karim Tellawi

BEIRUT, Lebanon: Israeli plan to build the "Museum of Tolerance" over the site of a Muslim cemetery in Held Jerusalem has been strongly denounced by Lebanese Hezbollah headed by Hasan Nasrallah, according to Lebanon’s Daily Star report in its Monday editions.

The party expressed in a statement its "strongest condemnation for the desecration of a historic Islamic cemetery in occupied Jerusalem, permitted by the enemy allowing an American company to build a museum on the site."

Hezbollah also called for Arab and international effort to put an end to "racist and inhuman practices" by the Israeli government.

The Israeli higher court turned down an appeal by two Muslim organizations to stop the building of the museum on the ancient Muslim cemetery.

Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Mohammad Hussein described the court's decision as "grave decision which harms Muslim holy sites."
