HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Marking the martyrdom anniversary of Al-Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mojtaba Az-Zaky (p), grandson of holy Prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah (p), thousands flocked to the holy shrine of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) in the holy city of Karbala to present him condolences on the martyrdom of his brother.

Majales Al-Azaiyaa were held at the holy mausoleums of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) and Al-Abbas (p) as well as husseiniyaat, mosques, madrassahs and offices of Marajay.

Speakers threw light on different aspects of the pious life of Al-Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mojtaba (p) who was brought up in the laps of his grandfather Prophet Muhammad (P), his father Al-Imam Ali bin Abi Taleb (p) and his mother Sayyedah Fatemah Az-Zahraa (p), and about whom Chief of Messengers holy Prophet (p) had asked to Allah: “O Allah I love him, so love him and love those who love him”. He always said: “Hassan and Hussain are the Chiefs of Youths of Paradise.”

Umayyads rained arrows on the coffin of the sweet basil of holy prophet (p), Al-Imam Al-Hasan (p), who was martyred on Safar 7 according to some reports while some others say it was Safar 28, aimed at stopping the holy family from his burial next to his grandfather holy Prophet (p) in the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia.

A number of mourning processions were taken out in this holy city on the eve and day of Al-Imam Al-Mojtaba (p)’s martyrdom anniversary attended by throngs of devotees of Ahlol Bayt (p).

While holding Husseini standards, arrow-studded replica coffin of Al-Imam Al-Hasan (p) showing the oppression of Bani Ummayad and black banners inscribed with slogans of devotion and statements of condolence to Imam-ul Asr (p) to mark the occasion, the mourners were pounding their chests and heads in grief.

After touching through the streets of holy Karbala, all processions terminated at the holy shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) and Al-Abbas (p).
