KAZEIMIYAH, Iraq: More than five million mourners
commemorated the anniversary of martyrdom of Al-Imam Mousa bin
Jafar Al-Kazem (peace be upon him) at his holy shrine in Al-Kazemiyah
on Sunday August 20, Rajab 25, Buratha news reported.

Mourners, coming from across the country, wearing white
shrouds to symbolize their willingness to die for Islam
chanted "God bless (Prophet) Muhammad (peace be upon him and
his pure progeny) and his descendants" as they converged on
the sacred mausoleum.

"We heed your call, oh Imam!" they proclaimed before entering
the compound, beating their chests in an expression of grief
marking the occasion.

Chained-replica coffins of the imam (peace be upon him) were
also taken out during the processions.

Mo’minin were prevented from mustering huge crowds at
religious ceremonies during Saddam regime.

Special tents and stalls to facilitate the mourners with food
and drinks were installed throughout the way to the holy
shrine.
Similar commemorative ceremonies were also held across the
country.
