Al-Baqi` tragedy marking in Karbala demands shrines rebuilding

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: In commemoration of the anniversary of Tahdimo Qaboori A’immah-tol Baqi (peace be upon them), a seven-day majalis al-azaiyah were organized by the administration of Husseini shrine in the sacred Husseini shrine compound.

The holy shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mojtaba, Al-Imam Zein-ol Abidin, Al-Imam Baqer and Al-Imam Jafar As-Sadeq (peace be upon them all) were demolished on 8 Shawal 1344 hijri at the hands of the then Saudi rulers – Aal-e- Sa’ud.

This attack was not the first one, but earlier they attacked the holy city of Makkah and destructed dome of mauled An-Nabi (peace be upon him and his pure progeny), dome of Sayedah Khadija (peace be upon her), dome of Zamzam and domes around Ka’abah, what the history remembers.

Deputy Secretary-General of the administration Sayed Afdhal Ash-Shamy opened the majalis followed by Sayed Muhammad Baqer Al-Faali. Ahbab-el Hussein group presented elegies to mark the occasion.

The majalis began on Friday Shawal 4 and culminated on Thursday Shawal 10.

Meanwhile, demonstrations were also held demanding reconstruction of these demolished shrines.

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Marking the anniversary of demolition of holy shrines of A`immah from the progeny of holy Prophet (s) and his daughter Syedah Fatimah Az-Zahraa (s) in the sacred Cemetery of Al-Baqi` in the holy city of Medinah at the hands of Saudi rulers 83 years back, big demonstrations were held in the holy city of Karbala on Shaval 8 Tuesday.
