Azao Bani Assad in Karbala – an observance since 61 AH till to-date

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Azao Bani Assad has been in
practice since the martyrdom of Al-Imam Al-Hussein bin Ali (AS) some
1,400 years ago till to-date. It was 13th of Moharram, three days aftr
the Imam Hussein (AS) martyrdom when a number of women from Bani Assad
tribe came in the plain of Karbala and saw headless and unburied
corpses; fragrance was coming out of them telling that these were holy
and sacred.
The women returned to their men (who were afraid of Yazid)
and forced them to go and bury the holy corpses. They came with
devices used for digging graves and burial. But as corpses were
heedless they wee unable to recognize. At that time Al-Imam Zayn Al-Abideen
(AS) came there by the will of Allah and told them about each and
every corpse and then they buried.
Since that day, every year clan of Bani Assad along with
devices to dig graves came at the holy shrine of Al-Imam Al-Hussein
(AS).

HOLY KARBALA, Iraq: Amid tight security arrangements, tribe of Bani Assad commemorated the burial of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) and his near and dear ones, who rendered supreme sacrifice to defend Islam and Shariah some 1,400 years ago in the plain of Karbala, on 13th of Moharram Saturday January 10 by holding Husseini procession.
