Iraqis protest martyrdom of cleric By: Hamoud Kufi
BAGHDAD, Iraq: Iraqis holding anti-American placards on Tuesday took to the streets of the capital, Baghdad, against the martyrdom of a cleric Sheik Abdor-Razzaq Al-Lami. During the demonstration, which comprised of hundreds of protestors, slogans against the USA and Israel were chanted. According to reports the cleric was martyred by a United States military tank on Friday December 5 2003 while standing next to his car after it broke down.
Meanwhile, 41 American troops and six Iraqi civilians were wounded in a suicide bombing at the gates of a military barracks on Tuesday. Hours earlier, three soldiers died in a road accident in central Iraq, and three civilians were martyred when a Baghdad mosque was rocketed. END Iraq introduces lottery system for choosing pilgrims
