Ayat An-Najafi censures American occupation of Iraq By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: Hawza Ilmiyah Najaf Ashraf’s Ayatullah Sheikh Bashir An-Najafi has strongly criticized the US occupation of the holy land of Iraq and called on Iraqis not to believe in American promises as history stands witness over their lies. He was addressing a meeting about the preparation of prayer leaders and speakers in the holy city of Najaf, which houses the holy mausoleum of Al-Imam Ali Ibn-e-Abi Talib (as). The Ayatullah said most of the oppressions committed against Muslims all over the world are due to the arrogant politics that the United States and the systems that revolve around it practice. “We do not expect good from America… if we look through the parts of the world we will find Muslims being tortured with American hand in atrocities and oppression committed against them,” he said.
