Holy Najaf ready to receive foreign pilgrims

HOLY NAJAF, Iraq: Holy city of Najaf, home to the holy mausoleum of Chief of Prophet (p)’s son-in-law, cousin and first infallible descendant and caliph of all Muslims Al-Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (p), is ready to receive pilgrims.

Shia Endowment board chief Sayyed Hussein Barikah Ash-Shami said his department is working to provide best ever services to the Iranian pilgrims to make them able to perform pilgrimage to the holy sites.

Ash-Shami told that a meeting between Iraqi and Iranian officials, held last week in Baghdad, decided this. He said Iraq will render security and health services to the pilgrims since they step in the holy soil till they back home.

He further told that the two sides also agreed on brief-time-pilgrimage owing to sensitive security conditions. The pilgrimage will also restrict to the holy city of Najaf, Kufa and holy city of Karbala. Package of seven-day pilgrimage to the two holy cities will be provided.

Meanwhile, a Najaf official Sayyed Abdul Hussein Abtan in a statement said a meeting was held to review security arrangements for the pilgrims.

AL-QAIM, Iraq: Iraqi police said the mutilated corpses of 10 innocent Iraqi Muslim pilgrims have been found in the desert near the town of Al-Qaim, close to the Syrian border.
