Fatahpur saint shrine blast claims dozens
By: Abdullah Changezi
QUETTA, Pakistan: A powerful bomb ripped
through a Sufi Muslim Saint shrine in southwestern Pakistan leaving at
least 35 people dead and scores other injured.
The home-made device exploded as visitors were eating dinner at around
1730 GMT Saturday in the remote town of Fatahpur, around 300km (185
miles) from Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province.
“I can confirm that 35 bodies have been counted,” local district
administrator Mahmud Mari said.
Syed Kami Shah, the brother of the shrine's custodian, said between
10,000 and 20,000 had gathered for an annual gathering at the shrine
of Cheesal Shah, and many were having their evening meals when the
bomb went off.
Sufism is a mystical branch of Islam. Devotees from Islam's Sunni and
Shia sects were at the site, as well as a number of Hindus, Shah
added.
According to the shrine caretaker Faqir Ghulam Hussain the final toll
could be higher. “Limbs are still scattered over a large area,” he
said. “It was just like Doomsday.”

"Knowledge is
better than wealth because it protects you while you have to
guard wealth. it decreases if you keep on spending it but the
more you make use of knowledge ,the more it increases . what you
get through wealth disappears as soon as wealth disappears but
what you achieve through knowledge will remain even after you."MORE
