Texas: Azadari programs mark Karbala Tragedy

HOUSTON, Texas: Azadari programs in remembrance of incomparable sacrifices of Hazret Imam Hussein (a), grandson of holy Prophet Hazret Muhammad Mostafa (s), along with his 72 faithful companions offered in the burning desert of Karbala some 1,400 years back for supremacy of Islam and protection of high human values were held in different parts of the United States including Texas.
 
Large number of mourning devotees attended majalis, matam and processions that were organized by various organizations in different mosques, imambargahs, husseiniat and Islamic centers.
 
Holding alams (standards of Hazret Abbas bin Ali (a)), replica coffin of Hazret Imam Hussein (a) and placards inscribed with statements about Imam Hussein (a), flocks of black-dressed mourners took to the streets of various cities. They were chanting dirges and beating their chests to show their sorrow over the sufferings of Ahlul Bait (a).  

These programs, that began from first of Muharram-ul-Haram, will continue till 8th of third Islamic month, Rabi-ul-Awwal, which marks the end of the mourning period.
